Description

Dunstan Hybrid Chestnut tree seedling. Medium size – 8-12″. These are big enough where they are local pickup only.
Hybrid of Chinese chestnut (Castanea mollissima) and American chestnut (Castanea dentata).
Similar to Dunstan (but note that Dunstan is a trademark of Chestnut Hill Nursery).
These hybrids have late bud break, which can beat late frosts.
The nuts drop mid to late season (in Kansas that is late September and October).

These seedlings were grown by me in NE KS with seeds from a Dunstan tree in Nebraska, and are adapted to the Midwest.

Note: You need at least two chestnut trees to ensure that they will cross pollinate and produce nuts. You can mix these with Chinese chestnuts in an orchard.
