New! Qing Chestnut seedling – 18″+

Original price was: $24.95.Current price is: $20.00.

Qing Chestnut Seedling – 18″+
One of the most proven commercial chestnut varieties available — and one of the few that earns that reputation through consistent, heavy production year after year rather than just variety hype.
These Qing seedlings are sourced and grown in Zone 6B Missouri, keeping them regionally adapted to Midwest conditions.
Qing is a standout for commercial growers converting row crop ground to chestnuts, but it performs just as well for homesteaders who want reliable production.

Why this tree:
– Heavy, consistent producer of medium to large, easy-to-peel nuts.
– Late leafing for added protection against late spring frosts.
– Among the coldest-hardy chestnuts available, rated to Zone 5A.
– May begin bearing nuts earlier than other varieties – 3 to 5 years.
– Mid season drop extends your harvest window.
– Also good for your deer food plot.

Pollination: You’ll need at least two chestnut trees for cross-pollination and nut production. Qing mixes well with Chinese hybrids or American x Chinese hybrids in an orchard setting.
Warning: Buy seedlings only, not grafted trees. Qing has a known tendency toward graft failure after 10 years.

Planting specs:
Spacing: 20-25 feet apart
Soil: Slightly acidic, pH 4.5–6.5
Zones 5–7
Time to maturity: 15 years

Shipping: Fall orders ship as containerized trees (2-gallon equivalent, removed from pot before shipping). Late Fall and Spring orders ship bare root during dormancy. Local pickup also available.
